STEP INSIDE, THINK OUTSIDE
Impact the world through creativity
Building world class leaders through creative design
In 1995 after building a strong brand for herself, Madam Joyce Ababio, our president decided to train individuals who were interested in fashion. This was born out of the realization there was generally a lack of understanding when it comes to handling the fabric and the design composition.
At the time, there was no school dedicated to the fashion industry. This was because at the time many saw fashion design as a career for under-achievers and school dropouts. A wrong notion which still exists to date but we must continue to fight it and correct.
This was how the Vogue Style School of fashion and design (VSSFD) started which has transitioned into Joyce Ababio College of Creative Design (JACCD). One of the goals was to help change the mindset and perception of fashion design and also develop and polish the next generation of fashion icons in Ghana, Africa, and the world at large.
JACCD is grand-structured fashion institution, a place where learning is exciting and challenging and always at the forefront in the creative education sector. A place where thousands of people come to learn what they love.
Since the transition from VSSFD to JACCD, the school remains the first and the best leading fashion school in West Africa with students coming from Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Togo, Liberia, Ivory Coast, and recently from the USA and the UK.
The school aims to ensure the right calibre of designers emerge from Ghana and Africa. JACCD currently offers certificate programs in Fashion Design and Graphic Design. There are Diploma and Degree programmes in Fashion Design as well.
Some of the alumni we are proud to have produced includes talents Aisha Oboubi of Christie Brown who has gone a long way in bringing recognition to the Ghanaian fashion industry, Sumaiya and Kabutey Mohammed of Pitts, Bright Merki Ibrahim of Bright Merki, Ophelia Crossland, and Vanessa Teye of B’venaj among others who are equally making their mark on the fashion scene in Ghana and beyond.
